Overcoming Dry Spells in Marriage: Understanding Friction and Solutions

Does he/she/they use these excuses: Too tired? Too busy? Too cold? Too hot? Too achy? Wrong time of the day/week? Neighbours/kids will hear? Unwell? But didn’t we do that last week/month/year?

Even couples who have frequent, satisfying sex have dry spells. This only becomes a problem if one partner wants more than the other and the dry spell stays that way for a prolonged time. Sometimes, the issues that cause it rectify themselves, but other times, they don’t. That’s when friction occurs.

Our partners can get creative with their excuses to avoid sex. Old ones wear thin, and escalating them is the only way to raise the stakes and keep the sexlessness they seek.
