Its skipper, the alluring and morally untethered Felicity Snow, greets Mitchell not with professionalism but with a hungry kiss. Their affair is obvious… and so is their secret arrangement. Felicity, a doctor with a reputation for both sailing and seduction, has come here for a specific task: to extract Sam’s eggs.
The couple’s banter reveals a disturbing dynamic. Felicity’s husband knows—or half-knows—she strays, and the twisted thrill of secrecy is part of their marriage ritual. Mitchell, meanwhile, is here for something transactional, emotionless, and chillingly procedural.
He brings Sam onto the catamaran, stripping and hosing her down before placing her on a prepared table where Felicity has already set up medical equipment. Sam is barely conscious, unaware, and helpless. The chapter ends with Mitchell standing beside his wife’s limp body as Felicity inserts an IV. His final command seals the horror:
“I want all of them. Don’t leave any behind.”
