For a long time, I wasn’t sure if this book would ever let me go. Now it has, and it’s finally ready for you to see, read and enjoy.
This third instalment takes the suburban darkness of the earlier books and drags it into deeper, more treacherous water. Mitchell returns, naturally — calm on the surface, something far more volatile underneath. Samantha returns too, navigating her quiet, suffocating world in ways that make the air around her feel cold. And Felicity Snow… well, she turns the heat up in ways that even surprised me. There are alliances in this book that feel like lifelines, and others that resemble ropes pulled tight around the throat.
There are beaches bathed in moonlight, marinas humming with secrets, and long walks that look ordinary from the outside — until you realise one person has already made a decision the other can’t escape. As for love… love is present. Just ask Sandra Williams. She wants to be loved and goes to great lengths to find it. She dresses to capture it, but it attracts the wrong kind of men. Sometimes tenderness hides cruelty. Sometimes intimacy is used as a weapon. Sometimes the person who promises safety is the one steering the boat into the storm.
On the writing side, finishing this novel was a battle. First drafts came easily—the editing — not so much. There were days when the manuscript felt like an anchor. But every chapter pushed the story into sharper, more dangerous places, and the result is something I’m genuinely proud of: a thriller about control, desire, secrecy, and what happens when the Beast inside someone finally claims the wheel.
