“I Watch You Through Your Phone Camera!”

Do you think you’re alone when you’re by yourself? Forget it. Phone hacking is the new stalking. If your phone is with you now, someone else might look at everything you do.

Kurdaitcha [Alias] is an Australian online voyeur and computer hacker who says that phones, laptops, and tablets constantly connected to the internet are vulnerable. This practice, called camera jinking, is becoming a popular form of online entertainment for a small group of specialist tech wizards.

“It’s better than reality television!” He says.

“In the eighties, I listened to police, ambulance and cell phone conversations through a scanner. It was very saucy and a real treat to listen to something juicy when it finally came over the airwaves.’

“Cell phones changed. They came with in-built cameras. That’s when I went to hacking phones. I get in, turn things on, listen and watch.”

“Some of the best stuff comes via audio. A phone’s mike will hear everything. I’ve heard everything: boardroom debates, pay disputes, love affairs, divorces, anything you can think of; I’ve heard it.”

“And then a phone is taken into the bedroom. People never photographed that stuff twenty years ago.”

“And the girls are worse than the guys!” He added.

When asked why he does it, Kurdaitcha responded, “I don’t know. It was a hobby that I found entertaining.”
