The Storm Within: A Tale of Love and Betrayal

I was a husband once—faithful, patient, starving. Sam said no more than yes, and our marriage became a mausoleum of withheld touch and frozen time.

I waited for affection. I begged for warmth. It never came. What did come was silence—long, cold silences that screamed louder than rage ever could.

Then Nina returned. An old flame, bright and reckless. Her fire thawed me. She said yes. Often. Eagerly. She said it without words, with skin, sweat, and bedsheets. With rope and surrender.

But lust doesn’t live in a vacuum. It leaks. It stains. It speaks. Secrets want to breathe.

When I met Tony, the marriage counsellor, I thought I’d find clarity. Instead, I found a mirror. He looked at me like I was broken. I was. But I’d learned to love my cracks.

Each storm I chased echoed the one brewing inside me. Photography couldn’t capture it. Nina couldn’t quiet it. Sam couldn’t name it.

And then it happened—again. The moment. The act. Not planned, yet always waiting. A scream swallowed by thunder. A final thrust mistaken for passion. A body was left cooling in the rain.

I didn’t run. I composed. I cleaned. I watched. I waited.

Because I wasn’t Mitchell anymore.

I was the storm.

The lightning didn’t come from the sky. It came from me.
