We Built A New Shed For The Cost Of A Box Of Screws

That’s right; we’ve just finished erecting a 6.0 x 2.5 x 2.1mtr lean-to shed and only spent money equal to the cost of its fixings!

Let’s turn the clock back to see how we got this fabulous deal.   

We had some roofing iron left over from the work done on our outdoor area. The guys messed up the original roof and had to redo it. Replacing the sheets was the only way to fix the mistake. A second set of sheets was ordered, but they allowed me to keep the first one after they took them off the frame. We stored them behind the garage, only pulling them out to see if they’d do for the wall of the new shed. There was EXACTLY the right amount of sheeting to roof and wall my new lean-to shed.

We couldn’t believe it!

The posts and frame was made of some Jarrah I had left over from other building projects. I had everything to make the structure except the right kind of screws to put it all together. We called the new lean-to Shed 23 because it cost just $23. While Margo emptied out the old lawn locker, I pulled out the shelves from it and reinstalled them in the new DIY shed.

Shed 23 now looks after our mower and some garden implements. The old lawn locker is about to become a sewing room for Margo!
