Guess who’s back from a whirlwind road trip with Margo? Yep, yours truly! But let me tell you, folks, I’m already itching to hit the road again!
Our grand plan? To venture out to New Norcia (NOR-see-ya), a quaint little monastic village about 200 kilometres away. Picture this: monks making bread, crafting wine and olive oil, and even building and fixing stuff—well, at least they used to. Nowadays, they’ve got some contractor buddies lending a hand. But hey, back in the day, those monks were the Swiss Army knives of the village!

Now, about that church—it’s a Benedictine Monastery with ties to the Catholic Church. They had big dreams of spreading the good word to the indigenous folks back in the day. Things were going smoothly until those pesky European germs crashed the party, causing a bit of a health crisis. So, they improvised with a couple of boarding schools. Talk about thinking on your feet!
Our digs for the night? An old hostel turned hotel. It’s got that rustic charm with squeaky floors, wonky doors, and a staircase straight out of a fairytale. Sure, it’s not your five-star resort, but hey, it’s got character!

Next stop: The Pinnacles! Imagine driving through the desert only to stumble upon a surreal landscape of stone pillars as far as the eye can see. It’s like Mother Nature’s art gallery out there!
And let’s not forget about those Grass Trees standing tall amidst the aftermath of the recent fires. Talk about resilience!

Now, I won’t bore you with every pit stop along the way. The main goal was to escape the humdrum of daily life, and boy, did we succeed! After years of DIY projects and writing marathons, a little road trip therapy was just what the doctor ordered.
So there you have it, folks! Another adventure in the books. But fear not; there’s always more excitement around the corner. Until next time, happy trails!
