Exploring Feminism’s Impact on Society

The conversation around feminism is vast, complex, and deeply personal. At its heart, it was never about domination or replacing one hierarchy with another—it was about balance. It was about creating a world where women and men could stand side by side, free from the weight of long-standing inequalities.

Yet, the journey has not been without its struggles. For some, feminism has been a beacon of progress, opening doors that were once locked tight. For others, it has raised questions about whether the movement has always lived up to its promise. These doubts aren’t just whispered among men; many women, too, wonder if feminism has shaped their futures, relationships, and family lives in ways they didn’t fully expect.

Recent research highlights this complexity. Across seventy-five countries—representing a vast majority of the world’s population—surveys reveal that unconscious bias against women remains strikingly high: 86% among women and 91% among men. The numbers are sobering, not because they spell failure, but because they remind us how deeply ingrained cultural patterns can be. Change, after all, doesn’t happen overnight. Centuries of patriarchal traditions can’t be undone in a single generation.

Perhaps this means feminism’s work is unfinished. Perhaps it means the vision of equality requires constant reimagining, adapting to the realities of each new era. What matters is not to assign blame, but to listen—to the data, to one another, and to the lived experiences of women and men alike.

Feminism was always meant to be a bridge, not a battlefield. It invites us to consider not only how far we’ve come, but also where we still need to go. And if the path forward is uneven, the challenge is ours: to learn, to adjust, and to keep striving toward a society that nurtures fairness, respect, and compassion for everyone.

These tensions between ideals and lived realities are also explored in SEETHINGS, a story about a childless married couple trying to reconcile traditional values with modern feminist ideals. Outwardly, they manage to hold everything together—for their friends, their families, and even themselves. But beneath the surface, the strain takes its toll. What begins as passive aggression evolves into something darker, reminding us how deeply social change can ripple through private lives.

“Forman’s writing style is artful, with the protagonist Mitchell’s warped thought processes masterfully exposed. The author has a powerful and vivid command of language and his word pictures are stark and disturbingly real.”
