Fresh food is best, right? Well, a little of our ‘old country life’ has just arrived at our Manurah home. One of our pullets has laid her first tiny egg! We are back to having homegrown eggs for our homemade breakfasts!
It’s always exciting to see little chickens grow and then lay their first tiny eggs. You can’t see it in the video, but those first ones aren’t full-size. It takes a few goes for them to grow to what we know are properly sized chicken eggs.
The best thing about our new hen house is that it has a different and better laying box. It’s located on a wall where we can access it easily (and it has an outside lid so we can collect eggs!). I wasn’t sure if they’d take to it right away or lay eggs elsewhere, but they used it – it works. You never can tell what chickens will do. BUT THEY ARE DOING IT RIGHT!
