Accepting Things We Can’t Control

Life is a journey that is full of ups and downs. It is natural to feel anxious about it, but it’s important to learn how to accept the uncertainty and reduce anxiety. Here are three known strategies that can help calm the restless mind:

  1. Practice mindfulness: Mindfulness meditation is a helpful exercise in learning how to sit with the discomfort of anxiety. You may learn through this practice that you can experience anxiety without letting it completely discourage or overwhelm you. In other words, you may not be able to stop feeling anxious immediately, but you can learn to accept your unpleasant thoughts and then redirect your mind to something else.
  2. Confront your shadow: Confronting your shadow is a powerful way to overcome restlessness. It involves acknowledging and accepting the darker aspects of your personality that you may have been avoiding. By doing so, you can stand your ground and become more self-aware. This can help you to better understand your emotions and reduce anxiety.
  3. Focus on controlling things that are under your control: Focusing on things that are under your control can help you reduce anxiety about the future. It is important to recognize that some things are beyond your control, and worrying about them will only increase your anxiety. Instead, focus on the things that you can control, such as your thoughts, actions, and reactions. This can help you to feel more empowered and reduce anxiety.
Practicing mindfulness

Accepting the ups and downs of life is not always easy, but it is an important part of living a fulfilling life. By learning to accept the uncertainty and reducing anxiety, you can live a more peaceful and content life. Remember to practice mindfulness, confront your shadow, and focus on controlling things that are under your control. These strategies can help you to calm your restless mind and reduce anxiety.

If you’re unable to achieve this, write a book about how you feel and get the emotions out that way. I did.
