Marriage: When The Status Quo Becomes Happy Ever After

We were told that love conquers all, that once found, it remains untouched by time and struggle. Spinning from golden threads of fantasy, these stories filled our hearts with dreams of happily ever after.

Yet, as we grow, we realise that love, while beautiful, is not immune to the realities of life. Marriage is not just about passion and affection; it’s a journey that demands resilience, patience, and understanding. The pressures of daily life—work, family, sex, financial burdens—can weigh heavily on a marriage. Conflicts arise, and managing them requires compromise and communication, not the effortless harmony we once imagined.

We learn that love is not a fairytale but a partnership. It’s the commitment to weather the storms together, to find strength in each other when the world feels overwhelming. It’s about navigating the mundane alongside the extraordinary and finding joy in the simple moments that often go unnoticed.

As we face the complexities of life, we come to understand that “happily ever after” means something different than what we first thought.

Sometimes, a peaceful status quo is the best happy ever after of all.
