When Breaking Up Is The Right Thing To Do

Love is nice when you’re in love, but it hurts when it’s close to its end. This is when lovers start listing their relationship inputs like bankers auditing their accounts. When that happens, you can kiss love goodbye.

Who gave more — who loved more — who didn’t keep up their end of the deal. The lies — truths — half-truths — deceptions — a general disrespect and contempt for each other. The love accounts are definitely in arrears, and someone needs to pay!

Although the heart adores happily ever after stories, they should also come with one important footnote. Happily ever after is dependent on many things, many of which are out of our control. Sometimes, it means abandoning a relationship altogether. Even loneliness is better than living with toxic and emotional torture. What’s wrong with saying goodbye, knowing that our personal future must take precedence? Our lives will improve. Optimism isn’t just for those living inside happy love bubbles y’know. It’s for recent singles, too!

Breaking up is tragic, but there’s always hope. Once the dust has settled, an opportunity will come knocking. The air will be fresher. The light will become brighter. I should know. I did it and highly recommend it. It takes a while to establish a new routine, but you do get through it. Soon, you’ll find that winning feeling again!

When you’re ready to make the break, take a deep breath and tell yourself to commit to it. The next part of the journey is to write out a step-by-step plan. Think about where you’ll go and how your stuff will go from one place to another. Consider bank accounts and where your post will be sent after you’ve left. Alter your Will. Make the move and go. Don’t look back. Don’t second-guess yourself. Don’t try to digest everything at once. It’s a lot easier to focus on small components of the process than to try and figure out everything at once. Just take a single step at a time, knowing that you’ll be happier doing it. And then let it happen naturally. Remember to keep breathing and keep smiling. Good times will come again.

SEETHINGS is about long-term love, too. It’s about two proud characters who once loved well but became love martyrs to save their marriage from reaching the end.
