Today, I was told a shocking story by a close friend—someone I never imagined capable of such a thing.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, the kind of woman who gave everything to her family. And when she found out her husband was sleeping with their nanny, something inside her broke. She screamed. She cut up his clothes and threw them onto the lawn. She confronted him, and then she reached for a small bottle and coated his toothbrush with poison.
Many would say he deserved it. All of it. He betrayed her. He shattered their home. He humiliated her. He had it coming. But does betrayal justify making someone so sick that their life is ruined forever? Does it justify killing their daughter’s father?
Fate intervened.
He never used the brush. He noticed the bristles looked strange—slightly discoloured—and threw it away. He never got sick or died. They separated and divorced. Life went on.
But what if he hadn’t noticed? What if he had used it? Would she have been a murderer? Or was simply a woman pushed too far?
I keep thinking about it. We talk so much about justice, karma, and people getting what they deserve. But what is justice when it comes at the cost of another life?
Is she a monster for what she tried to do? Is she evil?
Would you have done the same?
