I hear the word misandry more now than I did years ago. Some say it means hatred of men. They say it is new, and strong, and on the rise. I have heard the claim. I just don’t know if I believe it.
When I look at the world, it does not seem shaped by the hatred of men. Men still lead most groups. Men still run most firms. Men still sit high in law, trade, and state. Men speak, and are heard. Men act, and are backed. That does not look like men are under attack. They like being admired.

What some men call misandry feels more like change.
For a long time, men set the tone. They chose what was normal. Now women speak more. They name wrongs. They point out harmful things. That shift can feel rude if you are not used to it. But a loud voice is not the same as hate.
I also hear jokes get used as proof. Jokes about men, jokes about male traits, jokes about power or care. Some men (and many women, too) find them unfair. I can see why. No one likes to feel mocked. But jokes are not walls. They do not block work, law, or life.

Some women speak of misandry, too. They say men are now blamed for too much. They worry that talk has gone too far. I get that fear. We want fairness. We want care. But we must also ask where harm came from, and why anger exists at all. Pain does not form in the air.
If misandry were real in a deep way, we would see proof. We would see men shut out. We would see their needs brushed off by rule and law. We would see fear shape their days. I do not see that. What I see is pushback against old norms.

This does not mean men feel nothing. Feelings are real, even when fear is wrong. It is hard to lose ease. It is hard when the world asks more of you than before. That does not make men bad. It makes them human.
At most, I can say this: yes, some women treat men with sharp words or cold acts. A few may act with spite. But this feels small, brief, and weak. It does not shape the world. And after so many years where men held power over women, it feels less like hate and more like a bruise left from old harm.
So when I hear the word misandry, I pause. I listen. Then I doubt.
