Erotic Noir

Vanilla erotica is known for predictable plots. Someone’s manly chest meets someone’s smooth, skin, and the outcomes are anticipated. The names change, but the story remains the same. Nice. While some readers love cliched comfort, others don’t mind taking on a challenging alternative.

Neo-noir erotica is edgier. Its narrative doesn’t coat itself in such gloss. Sex comes from a place of lust, driven by uncivilised forces and dissociations. If you expect a nice HEA wrap-up, you’ll not find it where it should be. You’ll need to tilt your head sideways to see it.

Close-up of two people embracing, showcasing hands intertwined around bare skin in a tender moment.

When writing SEETHINGS, I lured the reader with conventionality and then reshaped the eroticism as it progressed. At first, the characters move predictably—their passion is orderly. Tender kisses turn to devouring each other, allowing the tension to rise and the reader to grow comfortable with the process. But a shadow lurks. Something is wrong. The text turns, the mood darkens, and stimulation shifts.

I’m proud of how sophisticated the erotica became. The challenge was adding that extra element without losing the intensity. Working it in wasn’t easy, but it got done. My toes curl thinking about it. I hope you’ll agree when you read it.

But don’t forget to skew your head sideways to find that secret happy ever after ending! (Trust me, it’s there)

Read SEETHINGS (downloadable and free for a limited time) now to unsettle all your thoughts on erotica, vanilla or otherwise.
